June 2010

June 1 officially marks the first day of winter in South Africa. Here in Cape Town we are still enjoying autumnal weather with warm, sunny days followed by chilly, cold even, nights, interspersed with rainy days. A glass of red wine and a good book make for cosy evenings. This is also the time of year when there are many opportunities to taste wine, as can be seen from the list of forthcoming events. Of course we are likely to be inundated with thousands of beer drinkers, here for the you-know-what 2010 event, who hopefully will use the opportunity to experience our beautiful wine region and its products.

As we look forward towards the next spring and summer season, we have been considering the effects of exchange rates on what our guests actually pay in Euros, pounds and dollars to stay at Beaumont House. Compared to a year ago, exchange rates have made it around 20-30% more expensive, and air fares/taxes have also gone up by around the same amount. So what we have done is to reduce our rates by around 12%, at a time when most are increasing their rates, and if you add that to the 10% discount we offer to returning guests, we believe it makes a compelling case for you to consider Beaumont House as your holiday destination in 2010/2011. We really do look forward to welcoming you back.
